Chicken Biryani



Ingredients

For Gravy
  • 1 fine chopped onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 1 big piece of ginger
  • 1 tspn cloves
  • 1 tspn pepper
  • 1 tspn chilli powder
  • 1/2 tspn tumeric
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 cup curd
  • 1 pound chicken
  • 1 tbsp salt
For Rice
    • 1 tspn ghee
    • 5 tamal patra
    • 5 cloves
    • 5 peppers
    • 1 tspn salt
    • 2 cups rice
    • 2 cups hot water
    For Biryani
    • Color
    • julienne cut onion fried well
    Method

    Put rice in water and keep soaked for atleast an hour
    Put ghee in a vessel and add tamal patra, peppers, cloves. 
    Add rice and fry well. Add water and salt to half cook the rice
    Spread the rice on plates to cool
    Add color to half the rice

    Fry onion, garlic & ginger, cloves, pepper
    Once brown, add tomato and fry
    To this mix add chilli powder, tumeric & garam masala
    Add the chicken pieces and mix well till chicken slightly cooked
    Add curd and let cook for sometime
    Add water to required consistency and let simmer for 30 mins.
    Ensure chicken is tender and cooked well

    Line a vessel well with oil
    put a later of rice
    one layer of chicken gravy and pieces
    one layer of fried onions
    one layer of colored rice
    Keep adding these layers till rice is finished.

    Method 1: Put the bakeware in oven for 20 mins @ temp of 400 deg F
    Method 2: Seal the vessel with wheat flour. Put hot water in a pan. Place the vessel in the pan and keep for about 20 mins
