Chicken Biryani
Ingredients
For Gravy
- 1 fine chopped onion
- 5 garlic cloves
- 1 big piece of ginger
- 1 tspn cloves
- 1 tspn pepper
- 1 tspn chilli powder
- 1/2 tspn tumeric
- 1 tbsp garam masala
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 cup curd
- 1 pound chicken
- 1 tbsp salt
- 1 tspn ghee
- 5 tamal patra
- 5 cloves
- 5 peppers
- 1 tspn salt
- 2 cups rice
- 2 cups hot water
For Biryani
- Color
- 1 julienne cut onion fried well
Method
Put rice in water and keep soaked for atleast an hourPut ghee in a vessel and add tamal patra, peppers, cloves.Add rice and fry well. Add water and salt to half cook the riceSpread the rice on plates to coolAdd color to half the rice
Fry onion, garlic & ginger, cloves, pepperOnce brown, add tomato and fryTo this mix add chilli powder, tumeric & garam masalaAdd the chicken pieces and mix well till chicken slightly cookedAdd curd and let cook for sometimeAdd water to required consistency and let simmer for 30 mins.Ensure chicken is tender and cooked well
Line a vessel well with oilput a later of riceone layer of chicken gravy and piecesone layer of fried onionsone layer of colored riceKeep adding these layers till rice is finished.
