Ingredients

Oil for frying 

For dough
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 cup semolina (rawa)
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup hot oil
Stuffing
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 10 chopped cashews
  • 1/2 cup sesame
  • 1/2 cup khus khus (poppy seeds)
  • 1 tsp cardamom powder

Method

For dough
Mix all the ingredients for dough 
Knead well with water to make a hard dough
Cover with wet cloth and keep aside 

For stuffing 
Heat a pan
Add the sesame and sauté on medium heat till crunchy
Pour in a bowl and keep aside
In same pan sauté the khus khus till lightly browned
Pour in the bowl with sesame and let cool
Mix in rest of the ingredients and keep aside


To make nevrys 
Take a small ball of dough and roll into a chapati 
Put just enough filling such that the chapati can be folded into half. 
Seal the edges together with water and cut off the extra


Heat oil and deep fry the Nevry till done.


Makes : 2 dozen
