Marathmol mutton

Ingredients
1 kg mutton (lamb or goat)
3 tsp salt
1 finely chopped tomato
4 tbsp oil
2 tbsp lemon juice

Paste 1
2 onion
1 inch ginger
5 garlic pods
1/2 cup desiccated coconut
2 tsp poppy seeds

Paste 2
2 tbsp coriander seeds
1 tsp tumeric
1 tbsp red chilli powder
1 tbsp garam masala
10 black pepper corns
10 cloves
1 stick cinnamon
2 tbsp chana dal

Method

For paste 1
Fry all the ingredients and grind into a thick paste with minimal water

For paste 2
Fry peppers, cloves and cinnamon.
Mix with rest of the ingredients and grind to a thick paste

For dish
Boil mutton with tumeric, salt and water. Keep aside.

In a pot add oil and let it smoke
Add paste 1 and fry well till the color changes about 5 mins
Add paste 2 and blend  both well
Add tomato and sauté for 15 mins
Add the boiled mutton with its broth and let it simmer on medium heat for 10 mins




Note: Instead of mutton, you can add chicken, eggs or vegetables (potato, cauliflower)
