Puran Modak


Ingredients

For cover

  • 1 cup wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup semolini
  • 1/4 cup hot oil
Stuffing
  • 1 cup chana dal
  • 1/2 cup jaggery
  • 10 chopped cashews
  • elaichi

For frying Modak

  • 3 cups oil
Method
Mix all the ingredients for cover well with water to make a hard dough

Boil dal in 1.5 cup water.
Add jaggery and heat till the mixture becomes dry.
Add elaichi for flavour.

Roll a chapati out of a small ball from the dough.
Put 1 spoon of the stuffing and shape into a modak. 
Heat oil and deep fry till done.

Yields 21 modaks
