Chun Modak

Ingredients


For dough
1 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup rice rawa
1/4 cup hot oil

For Stuffing
1 tsp ghee
1 cup grated coconut
1/2 cup jaggery
pinch of salt
10 chopped cashews
elaichi

For frying Modak
3 cups oil

Method

Dough
Mix all the ingredients for cover well with water to make a hard dough
Keep aside covered with a wet cloth

Stuffing
Heat ghee in a pan
Add the grated coconut and saute well till slightly browned
Add jaggery and mix well.
Add 1/2 cup water and cook till dry
Add elaichi for flavour.

Modak
Roll a chapati out of a small ball from the dough.
Put 1 spoon of the stuffing and shape into a modak. 

Heat oil till slightly smoky
Reduce heat to medium
Deep fry modaks till the color changes. Do not keep for too long else will be browned

Makes 21 modaks
