Tomato Saar



Ingredients 


For the tomato base

2 tomatoes

1 green chili sliced

Salt as per taste


For tempering

1 tbsp oil

1 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp cumin seeds 

1/2 tsp turmeric 

Pinch of Asoeftida 


Cilantro finely chopped


Method


Tomato base

Place tomatoes with salt in a pressure cooker for 2 whistles

Take out in a saucepan and mash. 

If you prefer it very smooth, purée using a hand blender.


Tempering

Heat oil in a small pan

Add mustard seeds & cumin seeds.

Once they splutter add turmeric & asoeftida 

Sauté for a min 


Pour into the tomato base and simmer for 5 min

Add water for required consistency 


Garnish with cilantro 


Serve hot with white rice.
