Urad dal

Ingredients 

For boiling 

1 cup urad dal (split black lentils)

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 turmeric powder

1/2 chili powder

1.5 cups water


For dish

1 tbsp ghee

1 big onion finely chopped

1 tomato finely chopped

1/2 tsp red chili powder

1/2 tsp garam masala

Salt to taste

2 green chilis slit

1 tsp grated ginger

Cilantro for garnishing


Method


Boil

Mix all ingredients in a bowl and cook on high pressure in instapot for 12 mins

Once done, wait for 20 mins and then vent.


Dish

Heat ghee in a pan

Add onion and sauté till partially soft

Add tomato, red chili powder, salt, garam masala  and sauté till well cooked

Add the boiled dal and cook for 2 mins

Add in ginger, green chilis & cilantro and cook for 2 more mins


Serve hot with a dollop of ghee
