Medu Vada
Ingredients
2 cups urid dal
5 green chillies
2 inch ginger
10 black peppers
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 cups oil
Method
Soak urid dal in water for 4-6 hours
Drain all the water
Mix all the ingredients except oil with the urid dal and grind to a thick paste
Do not add any water when grinding.
Put the ground paste in a bowl and whip using a hand mixer for 5 mins so that the paste becomes light and fluffy
Heat oil in a vessel and then turn the heat to medium
Dip your hands in water, take a scoop of the paste on your palm and make a hole in the center
Slowly slip the vada into the heated oil
Fry on medium heat till the vada turns brown
Serve hot with coconut chutney
Serves: Makes about 20 vadas
